Students are all required to show proof of compliance within 30 days of the beginning of the school year - or they must file for an exemption. Otherwise, students will have to be excluded from school until they are compliant.

Absenteeism due to illness should be telephoned daily to your child's school secretary. Please be specific about illness (i.e. flu, strep, chickenpox, etc.) because it is helpful in the control of communicable disease. Thank you to families for calling your student's school when they are ill and for reporting the diagnosis made in the physician's office.

CFAUSD School Board Policy – Head Lice:
“ If a child in the District is found to have head lice or untreated nits, school staff will notify the parent and recommend to pick up the student immediately and administer an FDA-approved lice treatment (e.g., pediculicide/ovicide), treatment by a qualified healthcare provider, or treatment at a clinic specializing in lice and nit removal. If a student with live lice or untreated nits is not able to be picked up immediately, they may remain in the classroom for the remainder of the school day.
Students may return to the classroom after the appropriate use of an FDA-approved lice treatment (e.g., pediculicide/ovicide), or the Centers for Disease Control treatment options by a qualified healthcare provider, or treatment at a clinic specializing in lice and nit removal. After treatment and upon returning to school, the child will be examined by the school health staff, other designated staff members, or the principal. The District practices a policy of "no live lice" as a criterion for return to school. “

Media Safety for Parents and Teens

Common Sense Media is a non-partisan, not-for-profit organization that exists to help parents navigate the digital world with their children. Common Sense Media believes in "media sanity" not censorship and has tools and suggestions for helping your children become safe, respectful and responsible consumers of apps, games, videos and other media and online content.
Good digital citizenship skills are built into learning experiences in the classroom with modeling and guidance from teachers, but these values need to be addressed and reinforced at home as well. The resources on Common Sense Media are helpful for igniting these discussions with your children. The links below are a good place for families to start.
